Pop Preservation Society has been involved in music distribution since the heyday of vinyl in the 1970s to cassettes and compact discs in the 1980s and now digital distribution. Our team are experienced in music wholesale for major and independent labels, music retail and digital distribution. Whilst methods have changed considerably over the years, many strategies remain the same.
We assist artists by streamlining the process of not only sending recorded work to the well known streaming companies we’ve all heard of, but also to a plethora of ones you haven’t, to give you the best chance of connecting with international audiences.
We work hard to make recordings available on 150+ streaming and download services around the world, including Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, Amazon, Pandora, YouTube, Deezer, iTunes, Shazam and TIDAL.
Utilising our distribution partners, our team is able to handle publishing administration to claim and collect mechanical royalties from streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. We also collect international mechanical royalties from download stores like iTunes, performance royalties from streaming services (like Spotify), radio, TV, live concert performances, and global YouTube publishing royalties for any video on YouTube that contains your music. Earnings are paid directly to artists.
SOCIAL MEDIA MONETISATION
Income is generated when songs are used in videos on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram Stories, and more — even if they’re just playing in the background of a video someone else uploaded. YouTube monetisation is tracked using YouTube’s Content ID system.
Our licensing partners work with music supervisors to place our artists’ songs on film, TV, video games, and commercials. The sync-licensing team pitches directly to the world's top music supervisors. In addition there is a portal where creators can quickly search for the songs that fit their needs. The team has placed songs by artists on HBO, NBC, CBS, MTV, Vice, Showtime FX, 20th Century Fox and Prime.
