‘Stars Over Marrakech’ is an homage to the music and legacy of three pivotal figures in the Jazz and Bebop traditions, pianists Elmo Hope, Bud Powell, and Barry Harris.

At 7:00pm Friday 21st April, for one night only at Northcote’s Open Studio, upright bassist James Lockwood will be presenting a unique selection of seminal works within the Bebop piano tradition.
Joined by sidemen Luke Drohan (piano) and Paul Whitwood (drumkit), Lockwood emphasises the interplay of melody and counter-melody to explore the unique, classically-informed styles of these three master pianists, in addition to the vast improvisational potential left by their musical legacies.
