To mark the highly anticipated launch of his upcoming single, 'I Got Lucky (I Got You)', Melbourne singer-songwriter, Peter Freebairn, is gearing up to take the stage at George Lane St Kilda, accompanied by his newly formed band. The matinee spectacle is scheduled for Saturday, February 17th, and promises to be a power pop sonic expedition, with contributions from special guests Victor Stranges and Michael Meeking.
At the age of eleven, Melbourne singer-songwriter Peter Freebairn was drawn to the sounds of The Beatles and Neil Young. After playing in countless bands throughout his teenage years and early adult life, Freebairn’s first big break came in the early 2000s with his band The Wish achieving the national radio hits ‘Love Is Alive’, ‘Gotta Let You Know’ and ‘Don’t Change’.
Following the 9/11 attack on American soil in September 2001 Freebairn was moved to write the heartfelt song ‘Faith Alive’. In 2006 the song was selected to be used by the producers of a new US television comedy drama series 'Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip' which co-starred the late Matthew Perry (Perry is best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the mega hit popular long-running television comedy series, Friends).
The Wish disbanded in 2006 and Freebairn formed a new rock band called Radio Vertigo, releasing two critically acclaimed EPs, ‘Town Of Deceivers’ and ‘Evolution’.
Early 2023 Freebairn had a spurt of creativity which resulted in the recording of his first solo full-length body of work which he titled ‘Silhouettes and Cigarettes’. The first single ‘I Got Lucky (I Got You)’ is released on Friday 16th February and the album, is scheduled for release in April 2024. The song pays homage to the likes of American power-pop masters Matthew Sweet and Jellyfish.
